The Polish Hen is a European breed of crested chicken known for its remarkable crest of feathers.
Despite the name, they are thought to originate from the Netherlands.
Polish chickens are quirky and bizarre, but most importantly, they are super charming. They can be distinguished by their beautiful head feathers.
As beautiful as their crest is, it does limit their vision. This can affect their temperament making them more timid and easily frightened.
Although they are not bred for egg laying, they can lay 150 a year.
Males are called ‘Cockerels’, females are called ‘Hens’ and young are called ‘Chicks’.
The birds feed on seeds, berries, leaves, and insects.
